Our Char Siu BBQ flavor is a combination of sweet, salty, and savory—all packed into one glorious jerk. The inspiration behind this recipe comes from the beloved Char siu bao (a fluffy, cloud-like bun stuffed with sweet and salty roasted pork). Growing up in Hong Kong, some of my favorite memories before moving to America came from Sunday dim sum outings with my family. We would “yum cha” (or drink tea) at tea houses where wheeled carts with baskets stacked high with steamed dishes rolled around us. Our table magically filled up with our favorites like dumplings, chicken feet, and char siu bao.
My family indulged hard on Sundays and, with this jerk, we hope you can too.
